WATERCOLOR ASIAN FOODS

Class Date: Saturday, May 18th

Class Time: 12pm–3pm

In this #veryasian beginner-level workshop, Kathy from kathyphantastic will teach watercolor technique through the lens of exploring identity with Asian food. In this class, you will learn how to paint bubble tea and noodles and have an opportunity to customize your bubble tea and bowl of noodles.

Kathy will go over supplies, brush and painting techniques, and basic color theory. She will guide you through painting and customizing different types of bubble tea and noodles just like those in your favorite orders. Throughout the class, Kathy will also touch on Asian American history. If you are comfortable, you can share part of your personal story and how it relates to the food you choose to paint in class.

You will leave this workshop with 2 small paintings of your favorite Asian foods and the materials and instructions to create a third painting at home.

In celebration of Asian Pacific Heritage Month, kathyphantastic and The Paper + Craft Pantry will donate $20 from each ticket sold to create a micro-grant for a local AAPI-owned small business.

Each workshop ticket includes:

3 hours of hands on instruction from a talented artist and small business owner

Watercolor paint palette

2 watercolor paint brushes

Additional template to paint at home

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: KATHY PHAN

Kathy has a background in creative direction, marketing and visual merchandising. She has always lived a creative life and has spent a lot of time mentoring young creatives while working in higher education. She now pursues her own creative projects through her business Kathyphantastic. Through her art, she is able to explore identity.

At this time we are not able to cater to every dietary restriction but will have a vegetarian option available. Age requirements: The Paper + Craft Pantry workshops are created for adults and are not recommended for anyone under the age of 18 years old. We are unable to seat anyone under age without a ticketed parent or legal guardian who is also attending this class.
